Rice Fortification Resource Group

Rice is a staple food for more than half the world's population and the main component of the diet in many countries where micronutrient deficiency remains highly prevalent. Rice fortification can be a very important component of a comprehensive approach to reduce the burden of vitamin and mineral deficiency.

In December 2009, a multi-sector group, the Rice Fortification Reference Group met in Sydney to discuss ways to facilitate the expansion of rice fortification globally. By being a resource on technical, advocacy and regulatory matters, the Rice Fortification Resource Group expects to progressively reach and engage all appropriate channels of rice production, trade and consumption in all nations as they move towards rice fortification.

Rice fortification future potential for an alliance: how can we make it work? 1-2 December 2009
